Dispersion polymerization provides an efficient route for synthesizing spherical polymer particles in the micron-size range with narrow-size polydispersities & high conversions. The particles that result from dispersion polymerization are generally larger than those produced by emulsion polymerization & range in size from 100 nm to 15 μm. However, these particles are less than those accessed by suspension polymerization methods, giving dispersion polymerization a niche for preparing polymer particles in a precise size range.
